The consortium includes UBS, PostFinance, Sygnum, Raiffeisen, Zürcher Kantonalbank, BCV, and Swiss Stablecoin AG. The addition of SIX, the operator of Switzerland's core financial market infrastructure, and TWINT, a leading mobile payments app, expands the group's institutional and consumer reach.
The project focuses on CHFD, a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the Swiss franc. The broader initiative began on April 8, 2026, and the coin was technically launched on June 30, 2026. The platform's technical backbone is provided by CHFD Infrastruktur AG, a subsidiary of Swiss Stablecoin AG.
Testing is centered on three primary use cases: programmable payments, tokenized asset settlements, and automated interbank transactions. The sandbox operates with capped transaction volumes and participant numbers to manage risk.
The exploratory initiative is scheduled to run until the end of 2026. Organizers have stated there is currently no commitment to a full commercial launch of the stablecoin.
