Swedbank AB has increased its investment in MicroStrategy Inc. by 27%, reaching a total of 115,464 shares. This move continues a trend of steady accumulation by the Swedish bank, which held approximately 79,000 shares in late 2025.
The bank's holdings grew significantly throughout 2026. In the second quarter, Swedbank acquired 8,278 shares, bringing its total to 90,590 shares, which were valued at approximately $8.81 million as of July 2026.
MicroStrategy, led by Michael Saylor, is known for holding between 600,000 and 800,000 BTC on its balance sheet. For institutional investors like Swedbank, which manages $264 billion in assets, these shares serve as a proxy for Bitcoin exposure.
By choosing MicroStrategy stock, the bank avoids the complexities of direct cryptocurrency custody and regulatory hurdles. Other Nordic institutions, such as SEB Asset Management, have also increased their positions in the company.
