Daya, a fintech startup based in Lagos, provides financial tools for African businesses, including virtual USD accounts, stablecoin wallets, and FX tools. Founded in October 2025 by Tomiwa Lasebikan and Paul Joe, the company reported over 40% month-on-month growth throughout 2026.
The Sui blockchain offers a gasless feature for stablecoin transfers, allowing peer-to-peer transactions without the need for native SUI tokens. Since its launch in May 2026, this infrastructure has processed nearly $65 billion in fee-free transactions. Historically, Sui has handled trillions in cumulative stablecoin volume.
Traditional cross-border transfer fees in Africa average 7.9% or higher. A business sending $100 000 monthly could save approximately $8 000 by utilizing stablecoin rails. While reports suggest a partnership between Sui and Daya to address these costs, the integration remains unconfirmed.
Daya maintains partnerships across multiple blockchain ecosystems, including an integration with Tempo in August 2026 and a pilot corridor with Aptos. Additionally, Sui has established a separate partnership with the Nigerian payments firm Paga to develop stablecoin infrastructure across the continent.
