Stripe has designated Open USD (OUSD) as the default stablecoin for businesses utilizing its platform for stablecoin transactions. The token is issued by Bridge, a subsidiary of Stripe, and is designed to maintain a one-to-one parity with the US dollar through reserves held at BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY.

OUSD was developed by Open Standard, a consortium comprising over 200 companies, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Coinbase. The consortium officially launched the token on September 30, 2026, following its initial announcement on June 30, 2026.

Unlike traditional stablecoin models where issuers retain reserve earnings, the OUSD model distributes the majority of these yields back to network partners after deducting management fees. Bridge provides monthly attestations to confirm the existence of the underlying reserves.

At the time of launch, Bridge reported over $400 million in OUSD liquidity on the Tempo platform. The token is also available for liquidity on exchanges such as Coinbase, Kraken, and Uniswap, with initial integrations including BVNK and the Visa Stablecoin Platform.
