Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, resumed its bitcoin accumulation strategy by purchasing 950 BTC in the week ending September 20, 2026. This acquisition follows a two-week pause in buying activity. The company utilized an average price of $81,200 per coin for the transaction, bringing the total value of the new purchase to approximately $77 million.

The company also executed a buyback of its preferred stock, STRC, totaling $174 million during the same period. This amount is more than double the expenditure on the latest bitcoin purchase. Strategy has been repurchasing these shares since late July, with an average entry price of $86.52 per share, while the stock closed at $98.51 on the Friday preceding the announcement.

Following these transactions, the total bitcoin holdings of the firm reached 846,000 BTC. As of September 20, 2026, the company reported holding $6.09 billion in cash assets. The buyback program is funded through common share sales and potential bitcoin liquidations, rather than the existing cash reserves, as part of the Digital Credit Capital Framework established in June.

The recent bitcoin purchase is significantly smaller than the company's previous acquisition on August 31, when it bought 4,603 BTC for $369.7 million. Executive Chairman Michael Saylor signaled the latest move on social media, while the market price of bitcoin subsequently rose to near $85,020. The firm's common stock currently trades at 0.88 times the value of its underlying bitcoin assets.
