Strategy Inc., formerly known as MicroStrategy, has repurchased 1,420,467 shares of its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock (STRC) between September 8 and 13. The company spent $139.3 million on this transaction, which was funded entirely from its USD cash reserves.
This buyback is part of a $2 billion digital credit securities repurchase program authorized in 2026. Following this operation, approximately $1.05 billion remains available for further repurchases. Previously, the company had already bought back STRC shares worth $176.3 million.
As of September 14, Strategy reported $5.1 billion in reserves and $1.3 billion in cash. The company maintains its Bitcoin holdings of 845,050 BTC, valued at approximately $65.7 billion, entirely untouched. The repurchase strategy aims to manage dividend obligations, as the variable rate for STRC rose to 12% in July 2026.
Market reaction to the announcement resulted in a 4.3% increase in MSTR share prices. The company continues to operate under its Digital Credit Capital Framework, which prioritizes dividend and interest payments while utilizing buybacks as a secondary capital allocation tool.
