Phong Le, CEO of Strategy, recently claimed that JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon privately supports Bitcoin, despite his public criticism of the asset. Le made these comments during an appearance on the Coin Stories podcast, suggesting that Dimon adopts a different stance behind the scenes.
Strategy currently holds approximately 846 000 BTC, representing about 4% of the total Bitcoin supply. Le stated that the company aims to position itself as a central entity in Bitcoin-based finance, developing investment products similar to those offered by JPMorgan on Wall Street.
Jamie Dimon has maintained a critical public stance on Bitcoin for years. In 2024, he referred to the asset as a pet rock, and in January 2025, he compared purchasing Bitcoin to smoking. Despite these remarks, JPMorgan has increased its involvement in the sector.
In October 2025, JPMorgan announced that institutional clients could utilize Bitcoin as collateral for loans. Furthermore, the bank has invested in Bitcoin ETFs, with reports indicating a position in iShares Bitcoin ETF valued at $650 million as of the second quarter of 2026.
Dimon remains opposed to certain regulatory developments, such as the CLARITY Act, which he criticized in May 2026. His objections specifically target rewards associated with stablecoins. Meanwhile, Le emphasized that he views Bitcoin and artificial intelligence as the most significant technologies of the century.
