Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa announced plans to launch nine new vehicle models in North America with price tags below $40,000. This strategy aims to address the rising average cost of new cars, which currently hovers around $50,000. Among the upcoming releases, two models are expected to be priced under $30,000.
The product roadmap includes the mid-size Chrysler Airflow SUV and two compact options, the Arrow and Arrow Cross, with the latter starting at approximately $25,000. Additionally, the company plans to revive the Dakota model and introduce the Dodge GLH crossover, both targeting the sub-$40,000 segment. Ram will also launch the Rampage truck in 2028.
The automaker is expanding its hybrid and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) offerings. Production of the Grand Wagoneer EREV, which utilizes a 3.6-liter V6 engine as a generator, is scheduled to begin next month. Furthermore, Stellantis intends to start production of the Ram 1500 REV in April 2027, focusing on specific customer segments for these powertrains.
Currently, the Jeep Compass serves as the most affordable street-legal offering from Stellantis in the United States, with a starting price below $30,000 excluding destination charges. Through these initiatives, the company seeks to strengthen its market position against competitors such as Ford and Toyota.
