SteelSeries has entered the high-end controller market with the Aeon Pro wireless controller, priced at $259.99. The device is compatible with Xbox and PC and began shipping on September 8.
The controller features a small OLED screen for switching between Xbox, PC, and Bluetooth modes, as well as adjusting settings and game-specific presets. Users can remap buttons and adjust vibration sensitivity directly on the device, while stick deadzones and profile creation are managed via the SteelSeries GG PC application.
A key feature is the replaceable battery system. The package includes two batteries, each providing approximately 12 hours of battery life. These batteries are compatible with SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro, Omni, and Elite headsets. A wireless base station with two USB-C ports is included for charging and automatic or manual switching between Xbox and PC connections.
The hardware includes Hall Effect sticks and triggers, with most input buttons using mechanical switches for tactile feedback. The controller offers two trigger stop levels to shorten the travel distance. Additionally, there are four non-removable back paddles for mapping, which the company stated were made permanent to avoid loosening issues common in modular designs.
