Valve has rolled out the SteamOS 0.4.3 update for its Steam Frame VR headset. This version is specifically optimized for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Arm-based SoC, enabling a more power-efficient operational mode.
The update provides a theoretical battery life improvement of up to 12%. The company notes that actual gains depend on the specific framerate and the type of content being displayed during use.
The new software includes a single-eye tracking feature. Users can activate this option by navigating to VR Settings, selecting General, and choosing Track Dominant Eye Only within the advanced settings menu.
The release also addresses several functional issues. It improves focus behavior for grab and resize handles and fixes a bug that prevented controller bindings from loading in titles such as Thumper and Google Earth VR.
