A new plugin for the Steam Deck, created by GitHub user kromossomom-debug, allows users to replace the default interface with layouts inspired by the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The developer credits the AI model Claude as a contributor to the project, noting that the tools were built without traditional development experience.
The Decky PS5 Dashboard plugin replicates the aesthetic of the PlayStation home screen, featuring rounded UI elements and square game tiles. When a game is highlighted, the background updates to display a screenshot, while additional information cards provide data on play time, review scores, achievements, and installation size.
The dashboard also integrates HowLongToBeat data and includes a functional Media tab, which users can navigate using the L1 and R1 buttons. The plugin applies the PlayStation color scheme throughout the Steam UI menus. Both the PlayStation and Xbox dashboard projects are currently available for free on GitHub.
