Vantora, formerly known as UP.Labs, secured $100 million in its first external funding round led by Silversmith Capital Partners. The firm operates as a startup studio that builds new ventures specifically for corporate partners, including Alaska Airlines, Porsche, J.B. Hunt, Wabash, and TDG.
The company is shifting its business model to focus exclusively on proprietary projects for its corporate clients. Under this new strategy, partners can integrate the developed startups directly into their core operations, ensuring that sensitive technological solutions remain internal rather than being sold to the broader market.
This strategic pivot allows Vantora to prioritize the development of physical AI applications. CEO John Kuolt noted that previous models often required abandoning high-value projects that were too sensitive for public release. The new approach enables the firm to address complex industrial automation needs for its clients.
Launched in 2022, the firm maintains its headquarters in California. While it shares office space with the venture capital firm Up.Partners, Vantora operates as an independent entity. The recent capital injection marks the first time the company has accepted outside investment since its inception.
