Beeline Kazakhstan and Starlink Mobile have launched satellite mobile services using Direct to Cell technology. This service enables standard smartphones to connect directly to Starlink satellites without requiring external antennas or specialized hardware.
The service provides messaging capabilities and basic internet access in areas lacking terrestrial mobile coverage. During the initial promotional period, the service is offered free of charge to Beeline Kazakhstan customers.
The project follows agreements made during the 2025 visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the United States. In November 2025, the Ministry of AI and Digital Development and Beeline Kazakhstan signed a memorandum, followed by field tests in December 2026.
Kazakhstan is the first country in Central Asia to implement this technology for public use. Currently, the service is available on compatible Android devices, with plans to expand support to other operating systems in the future.
