Starlink has officially launched its satellite mobile service in Panama in partnership with the local operator MasMovil. The new service, branded as +Más | Starlink, is designed to provide connectivity in remote mountainous and island regions where traditional cellular coverage is unreliable or completely absent.
The service utilizes Direct-to-Cell technology, allowing users to connect directly to Starlink satellites using standard LTE-compatible smartphones without the need for additional hardware. Currently, the service supports messaging apps, SMS, and map services, acting as a supplement to existing terrestrial networks.
Looking ahead, MasMovil intends to integrate next-generation Starlink V2 satellites to enhance bandwidth and expand coverage across the country. Pricing details for the service remain undisclosed, and it is not yet clear if it will be bundled into existing plans or offered as a separate subscription.
This expansion follows Starlink's recent announcement of a partnership with the Japanese operator au (KDDI). That collaboration is set to become the first deployment of Starlink Mobile V2 satellites in the Asian market.
