Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited announced plans on October 8, 2026, to launch institutional-grade custody services for digital assets. The offering is intended for corporate clients and institutional investors who qualify as accredited investors.
The scope of the service includes selected cryptocurrencies, tokenized real-world assets, and stablecoins. Global head of digital assets Ying Ying Tan stated that the bank aims to complete the launch by the end of 2026, pending necessary regulatory approvals.
While social media reports have linked the expansion to Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin on the XRP Ledger, the bank’s official announcement does not explicitly confirm support for these specific assets. The service remains subject to regulatory clearance.
The bank has previously established digital asset custody operations in the UAE, Hong Kong, and Luxembourg, where it secured authorization under the MiCA framework. It also maintains a strategic partnership with LMAX Group.
In May 2026, Standard Chartered integrated the operations of Zodia Custody, previously a separate venture, directly into its banking division. This move was part of a broader strategy to support the full lifecycle of asset management.
