Standard Chartered is expanding its digital asset operations by launching a new custody service in Singapore. The bank intends to provide secure storage for cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and tokenized real-world assets. This offering will be available specifically to institutional clients and corporate entities that meet the criteria for accredited investors.

The launch remains subject to meeting all necessary regulatory requirements in the region. The bank highlighted Singapore's status as a major financial and innovation hub as a key driver for this strategic move. While the bank confirmed the initiative, it has not yet disclosed the specific list of supported digital assets for the new service.

This development follows a broader effort by the bank to consolidate its digital asset infrastructure. In May, the institution announced plans to acquire the custody business of Zodia Custody. The bank is also active in the United Arab Emirates, where it recently introduced spot trading for Bitcoin and Ether and maintains a partnership with the exchange CoinMENA.
