Spotify is scaling its audiobook service to more than 180 markets globally, spanning regions in Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The rollout began on October 7, 2026, and will continue over the coming months, reaching a total user base of over 750 million people.
The platform now offers a catalog of more than 350,000 titles across 120 languages. In Spain specifically, users gain access to over 45,000 Spanish-language titles. To support this expansion, the company is collaborating with over 300 publishers, including Mondadori and Planeta.
Data from the past year indicates a 40% growth in monthly audiobook listeners and a 30% increase in total listening hours. Spotify aims to strengthen its competitive position against existing music streaming services and dedicated audiobook platforms like Audible.
Recent product updates include the introduction of Audiobook Charts for content discovery and an AI-driven tool developed with ElevenLabs that allows authors to convert books into audio formats. Additionally, the company is testing physical book sales in the U.S. and the U.K.
