Spotifast is an open-source, OS-native application written in Rust designed to reduce memory and CPU usage. The developer claims the client consumes between 150 MB and 200 MB of RAM, significantly less than the 600 MB to 1 GB typically required by the official Spotify application.

The client offers features such as keyboard shortcuts, playlist management, and a visualizer. Users can customize the interface with light, dark, or custom themes, and it includes support for Milkdrop visualizations and classic Winamp skins in .wsz format.

To use the application, a Spotify Premium subscription is required. Currently, the client does not support lossless audio due to limitations in the underlying librespot library, though this may change in future updates.

Spotifast is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. The developer, who chose to remain independent after receiving a job offer from Spotify, continues to actively maintain and update the software.
