Belgian life sciences startup SpectaCell has secured €6 million in a funding round led by imec.xpand. Other participants in the investment include PMV’s Flanders Future Tech Fund, InnovationQuarter Capital, Qbic, and VIB.

Founded in 2026 by Mathieu Rabaey, Veronique De Vroey, Jan Van de Velde, and Tony Montoye, the company is developing a cell analysis platform for drug development and manufacturing. The technology utilizes chip-based imaging and data analysis to monitor individual cells without the need for fluorescent labels.

The platform is designed to provide detailed insights into how treatments affect cells within hours. SpectaCell aims to assist pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in evaluating drug candidates, optimizing production processes, and performing quality checks during manufacturing.

The startup intends to allocate the new capital toward the further development and commercialization of its platform. The company plans to work closely with biopharma partners to implement its technology in the development of immunotherapies, including cell therapies and T-cell engagers.
