SpaceX plans to utilize its Starship heavy-lift launch vehicle as the primary platform for deploying the Starlink Mobile V2 satellite constellation. Each mission will carry 50 satellites into low Earth orbit at altitudes between 326 and 335 kilometers.
The deployment schedule is divided into two phases. The company is committed to launching and operationalizing 7,500 satellites by October 7, 2032, which will require 150 Starship missions. The remaining 7,500 units are scheduled for deployment by October 7, 2035.
Currently, SpaceX operates over 10,500 satellites across various generations, including V1, V1.5, V2, and V3, alongside the Starlink Mobile V1 constellation of approximately 650 units. The company holds authorization to expand its Gen1 and Gen2 networks to 19,400 total satellites.
Beyond current projects, SpaceX has pending applications for the Gen3 constellation, which could include up to 100,000 satellites. Additionally, the company has requested regulatory approval for an orbital data processing infrastructure project involving up to one million satellites.
