SpaceX has unveiled the Starlink Router 4, which features a new Wi-Fi 7 chipset designed to improve connection speeds and network performance under heavy loads. The device is capable of managing up to 510 concurrent connections and provides a coverage area of approximately 325 square meters.
The hardware includes tri-band radio modules, supporting MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies. Its configuration features a 4x4 antenna array for the 2.4 GHz band and a 4x5 array for the 5 GHz band. For wired connectivity, the router is equipped with two Ethernet ports that allow for direct integration of third-party equipment.
The device is housed in a compact chassis measuring 46x203x115 mm and weighing approximately 400 grams. It includes security features such as WPA2 and WPA3 support, along with a reset button and an LED status indicator. The router is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -30 to +50 degrees Celsius.
Although intended for indoor use, the router carries an IP56 rating and includes water-resistant port covers. These design choices aim to enhance durability while maintaining the compact form factor characteristic of the previous generation of SpaceX networking equipment.
