SpaceX is preparing to launch 26 next-generation Starlink V3 satellites using the Starship rocket. This mission marks the first attempt to deploy this specific satellite version into Earth orbit. Currently, the Starlink constellation includes over 11 000 operational satellites, with 552 units launched since July 2, 2026.
Amazon continues to face significant delays in deploying its Leo satellite constellation. As of now, the company has successfully placed 396 satellites into orbit. The last deployment occurred on July 2, 2026, when 29 satellites were launched via a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket.
The launch schedule for Amazon is hindered by issues with its partners. The ULA Vulcan rocket remains grounded by the US Space Force since February 2026 due to a booster anomaly. Additionally, Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket is unavailable following the destruction of its launchpad in May 2026.
Amazon recently increased its contract with Arianespace for the A64 heavy-lift rocket from 18 to 24 launches. However, these missions are delayed due to an unspecified component issue expected to persist through the end of 2026. A planned October launch of 36 satellites was removed from the schedule.
The company faces pressure to meet FCC requirements to launch half of its planned 3 232 satellites. Although Amazon previously stated that 400 satellites would be sufficient for a limited internet service, the mid-2026 deadline for commercial availability has passed without further updates.
