Sony is preparing to release two new flagship Walkman audio players, the NW-WM1ZM3 and NW-WM1AM3. Both devices share similar internal electronics, including an updated S-Master HX digital amplifier and an improved passive cooling system. The players feature a 5.5-inch display with 1080p resolution and offer storage options of 128 GB or 256 GB, with potential expansion via microSD cards.
The NW-WM1AM3 model features an aluminum chassis weighing 425 g and is priced at approximately ¥345 000, or $1290. In contrast, the premium NW-WM1ZM3 model uses a gold-plated oxygen-free copper body, which increases its weight to 670 g and its price to approximately ¥650 000, or $4120.
Connectivity options include 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm headphone jacks. Wireless audio is supported via a Bluetooth module compatible with Qualcomm aptX Adaptive and LC3 codecs. The devices provide up to 35 hours of battery life when playing locally stored music and up to 31 hours during streaming playback.
