According to an internal Sony memo cited by ComputerBase, the supply shortage for the PlayStation 5 Pro console is expected to persist for an extended period. Analysts suggest that the market situation may not stabilize until early 2027.
The surge in demand for the console is largely attributed to the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6. Many players are seeking the enhanced performance of the Pro model to experience the game with superior graphical quality, creating a significant imbalance between supply and demand.
Rising memory costs have further exacerbated the supply constraints, driving up retail prices. In the Chinese market, the cost of the console has climbed from approximately ¥4 699 earlier this year to over ¥7 000 at present.
The ongoing scarcity has prompted some consumers to shift their interest toward alternative hardware options. Many potential buyers are now opting for the PlayStation 5 Slim or the Xbox Series X and S consoles to prepare for the release of the new title.
