The new Sony ECM-AX10 microphone features four omnidirectional elements designed to capture sound from all directions. It is the first mobile microphone to support Eclipsa Audio 3D spatial technology, allowing users to record spatial audio while simultaneously capturing video.

The device connects to smartphones via a USB-C port, eliminating the need for wireless pairing. Sony plans to release a dedicated application, Spatial Audio Video Tool, for both iOS and Android platforms to manage recording settings and formats.

The product is scheduled to launch in Japan on October 23, 2026. The estimated retail price for the microphone is ¥30 000, which is approximately $190.
