Sony has introduced two new telephoto lenses, the FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS and the FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS. These models are marketed as the lightest ultra-telephoto prime lenses in the company's lineup, with both units weighing less than 1kg.

The lenses feature an optical design that includes three Super ED elements and one ED element. They are equipped with two XD linear motors, enabling autofocus and auto-exposure performance at up to 120 frames per second. The internal layout is optimized to shift the center of gravity closer to the camera body for improved handling.

Each lens incorporates 11 aperture blades and the second-generation Nano AR coating to reduce flare and ghosting. When paired with a full-frame Sony camera, the total system weight is approximately 1.7kg. The lenses offer a minimum focusing distance of 2.5m and include three-stop optical image stabilization.

The new optics support teleconverters for extended focal lengths and are compatible with in-body and lens-based coordinated image stabilization. The FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS is priced at ¥18 999, while the FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS is available for ¥24 999.
