Sony DADC has clarified that its Thalgau plant will see a 10 percent reduction in disc production volume by 2028, correcting a previous report that suggested a 90 percent decline. An unnamed spokesperson for the division clarified that the overall product volume decline is anticipated to be 10 percent, not a decline down to 10 percent.

The company will continue to allow publishers to place re-orders for existing PlayStation disc games even after the January 2028 cutoff for brand-new games on disc. This ensures that existing titles will remain available in physical format despite themathrms company's shift toward digital distribution.

Sony DADC did not respond to requests for information regarding the plant's restructuring. Specifically, the company did not confirm whether all 300 employees at the Thalgau plant are being retrained to work on microlenses instead of discs, as previously reported by ORF Austria in July.
