A promotional advertisement for Solana displayed on a building along the Bund in Shanghai was removed within 10 minutes of its appearance. The incident occurred amid ongoing regulatory restrictions in mainland China, where cryptocurrency trading has been prohibited since 2021.

Following the removal, some social media users suggested that a post by Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, regarding Solana’s new Shanghai office had attracted official attention. CZ rejected these claims, stating he only encountered the advertisement on social media 12 to 24 hours after it had already been taken down by censors.

The situation also affected a scheduled Solana event in Shanghai, which organizers postponed on Friday after authorities prevented guests from entering the venue. Despite these developments, Solana maintains its office in the city, and CZ continues to advocate for blockchain development efforts in various regions.
