The Solana Foundation has established a physical presence in Shanghai, marking a significant expansion into the Chinese market. Chief Strategy Officer Rachel Conlan confirmed the launch of the new office and a series of promotional activities, including branding displays across the city skyline.

This initiative is part of a broader campaign titled Solana Accelerate China, which includes events scheduled in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, and Beijing. The foundation is targeting developers, corporate executives, and over 100 fintech and technology companies during this tour.

Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, noted that the BNB Chain has not achieved similar access in China to date. While mainland China has maintained a strict ban on cryptocurrency trading, token sales, and exchange services since 2021, the government continues to support underlying blockchain technology.

Regulatory measures in China were further expanded in February to include restrictions on stablecoin issuance and real-world asset tokenization. Despite these constraints, the government remains committed to developing its own national blockchain infrastructure, excluding public assets like Bitcoin.
