Decentralized exchanges on the Solana blockchain have consistently outperformed Coinbase and Kraken in spot trading volume throughout the summer of 2026. During the week of June 12 to 18, Solana recorded approximately $7.19 billion in volume, while Coinbase and Kraken reported roughly $6 billion and $4 billion respectively.
By late July 2026, Solana secured the second position in global spot trading volume, trailing only Binance. The network maintained this ranking for at least nine consecutive weeks through late August. During the mid-June period, Binance led the market with approximately $34.39 billion in volume, followed by Bybit with $9.47 billion.
The growth in Solana's trading activity is attributed to three primary factors: high-frequency meme coin speculation, the emergence of tokenized equities, and the network's technical architecture. Low transaction fees and fast settlement times support these use cases, attracting users who trade traditional stock representations on-chain.
In response to shifting market trends, both Coinbase and Kraken have integrated access to the Solana decentralized ecosystem into their platforms. Despite Solana's growth, centralized exchanges remain significant players, with Binance's mid-June volume still exceeding Solana's weekly figures by approximately 4.8 times.
