Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, commented on the trailer for the upcoming Netflix series about the FTX scandal. He stated that the show appears to merge the identities of himself, Raj Gokal, and Vitalik Buterin into a single character. Yakovenko expressed that the portrayal was worse than he had anticipated.

The series, titled The Altruists, is scheduled to premiere on November 19. Netflix confirmed that Julia Garner will portray Caroline Ellison, while Anthony Boyle will play Sam Bankman-Fried. The production is led by Graham Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt, with Higher Ground, the company owned by Barack and Michelle Obama, serving as a producer.

The narrative of the series is based on reporting from New York Magazine. The title refers to the effective altruism movement, which was central to Bankman-Fried's public image. Prosecutors previously alleged that Alameda Research misappropriated approximately $8 billion in customer funds from the FTX exchange.

Legal proceedings surrounding the collapse remain active. In 2024, a New York court sentenced Sam Bankman-Fried to 25 years in prison, and he has since petitioned the Supreme Court to review his conviction. Meanwhile, FTX customers began receiving repayments in 2025, calculated based on 2022 market prices.
