Smart China has launched an early-bird reservation program for the new Smart #2, a two-door, two-seat micro electric vehicle. Customers can secure early-bird benefits by paying a deposit of ¥298. These perks include free selection of paid exterior colors, priority access to test drives, and a chance to win prizes worth up to ¥20 000.

The vehicle is built on the proprietary ECA compact electric architecture, distinct from the platform used for the Smart #1 SUV. It measures 2751 mm in length, 1669 mm in width, and 1555 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1875 mm. The car features a four-wheel-four-corner layout and offers a minimum turning diameter of 6.95 meters.

The powertrain consists of a rear-mounted motor from Viridi E-Mobility Technology with a peak power of 60 kW, allowing for a top speed of 140 km/h. It is equipped with a 35.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery from CATL, providing a CLTC range of nearly 400 km. The system supports DC fast charging, taking approximately 20 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.

The global debut of the Smart #2 is scheduled for the Paris Motor Show, which runs from October 12 to 18. Following the international premiere, the company plans to launch the model in the Chinese market in mid-November. Initially, the vehicle will be available as a two-door hardtop, with a potential convertible version to follow.
