Slate Auto, an electric truck startup supported by Jeff Bezos, has launched its inaugural physical experience center in Chicago. The facility is located in the Near West Side district, occupying a space previously used as a Tesla showroom.
The site was selected for its existing infrastructure, including a showroom layout, garage space, and pre-installed NACS charging capabilities. The center is intended to serve fleet buyers and provide potential customers with a firsthand look at the company's electric truck.
The vehicle features manual seat adjusters, a heavy-duty steering wheel, and a center console designed for durability. During test rides, the truck demonstrated a quiet and smooth performance on local roads, with engineers noting the use of standardized fasteners throughout the vehicle design.
