Skoda plans to keep the Fabia, Kamiq, and Scala models in production until 2034. CEO Klaus Zellmer confirmed that the company intends to develop a battery-electric successor for the Fabia to serve as an entry-level vehicle for the brand.
The current Fabia remains a key product for the manufacturer, with 61,900 units sold in the first half of the year, marking a 2.5% increase compared to the previous year. It currently ranks as the fourth best-selling model for Skoda.
In contrast, the Scala model saw lower demand, with approximately 27,000 units sold during the same period. While these internal combustion engine models are expected to remain available for several years, they will eventually be phased out.
The transition aligns with broader industry shifts toward cleaner vehicles by 2035. Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Group is undergoing a major transformation, which includes plans to reduce its workforce by 50,000 positions and significantly trim its overall product lineup.
