Skoda has officially confirmed the development of the second-generation Karoq crossover, reversing its previous plans to discontinue the model. The vehicle is scheduled for an official unveiling in 2026, with a market launch expected between late 2027 and 2028.

The new Karoq will retain the existing MQB platform but will feature significant technical updates. A key addition is the introduction of a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which will be offered alongside traditional engine options. The company aims to maintain the model's current price positioning while increasing standard equipment.

CEO Klaus Zellmer stated that the hybrid system will share similarities with the larger Skoda Kodiaq. The company is targeting an electric-only range of over 100 km for the new hybrid variant. This feature is intended to differentiate the Karoq from the upcoming Volkswagen T-Roc, which shares the same platform.

Despite the continuation of the Karoq, Skoda remains committed to its electric lineup. The electric Elroq, which the company initially viewed as a direct replacement for the Karoq, has become the second best-selling electric vehicle in Europe. Skoda now plans to market both models simultaneously to meet diverse consumer demand.
