SilkBank, the first financial institution in Georgia to offer native crypto trading, has integrated direct USDT purchasing and transfers into its Silk mobile application. The new feature became available to users on September 21, 2026.

To encourage adoption, the bank introduced a temporary 0% commission on all USDT transactions. This move aims to simplify access to stablecoins by removing the need for third-party exchanges or external wallet applications.

The platform already supports various digital assets, including BTC, ETH, SOL, BNB, XRP, and GRAM, following the launch of its crypto trading services in 2025. The bank positions USDT primarily as a utility for cross-border payments.

In May 2026, Tether announced plans to issue a government-backed GELT stablecoin pegged to the Georgian lari. Currently, there has been no significant market movement in price or volume following the integration of USDT into the Silk app.
