Sigma is preparing to release the fp II, a successor to its compact full-frame camera series. According to reports from L-Rumors, the new model will feature a 24-megapixel full-frame sensor, which is lower than the 61-megapixel sensor found in the 2021 fp L model. The company is prioritizing video production capabilities with this resolution choice.

The fp II will maintain a compact design, although its dimensions will be slightly larger than its predecessors. A significant addition is the built-in electronic viewfinder, which replaces the external accessory previously required for the series. The camera will continue to use the L-mount system, ensuring compatibility with lenses from Leica and Panasonic.

The device will support direct recording of RAW and open-gate video formats to memory cards, eliminating the need for external recorders. This integration aims to simplify workflows for professional videographers. The camera is expected to launch between October 24 and November.

The estimated retail price for the Sigma fp II is $2,500. This marks an increase from the original launch price of the first fp model, which debuted in 2019 at $1,740. The company has not released any new models in the fp series since the introduction of the fp L.
