Sibur's video analytics team faced the challenge of upgrading a monitoring system for hundreds of cameras at a petrochemical plant. The infrastructure operates within a closed network without internet access, and the production process requires continuous, uninterrupted operation.
The system processes video feeds to monitor production lines, liquid containers, and safety compliance, such as wearing helmets. It must detect anomalies and notify operators within five seconds. The existing hardware relies solely on standard processors, as the facility lacks GPU support.
Daniil Blinov, former tech lead of the video analytics team, reported that the team successfully restructured the system to handle hundreds of cameras simultaneously. This upgrade was achieved on existing servers without any downtime, despite strict restrictions on hardware modifications.
