Shortwave Coffee, a family-run roastery founded in 2014, has officially integrated Bitcoin payments across its five locations. The business operates two shops in Columbia, one in St. Louis, a location in Minneapolis, and a roastery in Tampa.

The decision to accept Bitcoin followed several months of requests from local customers who contacted baristas and the company's management. The integration was finalized in July 2026. The St. Louis branch is located at 33 N. Sarah Street and features a 75-person capacity.

The adoption of Bitcoin payments by businesses is being supported by a broader rollout from Square. In March 2026, Square began automatically enabling Bitcoin acceptance for up to 4 million terminals, transitioning the feature from an opt-in tool to a default setting.
