Shelby, a decentralized storage platform for AI and distributed computing, has transitioned from testnet to private beta. The team announced this shift on September 29, 2026, following months of testing that confirmed the reliability of the core platform architecture.
The initial testnet launched in March 2026 on the Aptos blockchain. During this period, developers accessed SDKs and APIs for React, Ethereum, and Solana, alongside S3-compatible tools. Feedback indicated that while the core infrastructure is stable, developers require improved tooling and compatibility.
The platform architecture integrates Aptos smart contracts with RPC servers and erasure coding to manage data redundancy and auditing. Smart contracts provide cryptographic commitments to verify stored data. The testnet was officially concluded on August 3, 2026.
The current focus of the private beta is on real-world customer applications and optimizing data workloads for AI. As of now, the project has not confirmed any native token, airdrop, or points program, and no official tokenomics details have been released.
