Swedish startup Serverpod has launched App Studio, a development environment for building full-stack applications using AI coding agents. The tool is currently in public beta and does not include built-in AI, allowing developers to use external agents like Claude Code or Cursor while maintaining the same project stack.
App Studio is built on the Flutter framework and the Serverpod backend. It supports stateful hot reload, enabling updates to the server, APIs, and database schema without stopping the project. The environment allows developers to build for mobile, desktop, and web, with the ability to export projects to any hosting provider.
Alongside the studio, the company introduced Serverpod Cloud, a service for deploying web apps and backends with a single command. It manages infrastructure tasks such as load balancing, caching, and database storage. Pricing for the cloud service starts at $5 per month.
Founded in 2023 by former Google engineer Viktor Lidholt, Serverpod is headquartered in Stockholm. The company aims to provide professional infrastructure for projects created via AI, addressing common issues like security flaws and unoptimized databases that often arise when scaling prototypes.
