A Reddit user known as VastOption8705 acquired an old server from their employer, which contained 30 sticks of RAM. The hardware was salvaged after the company allowed the employee to keep the decommissioned machine.

The modules are identified as Samsung 64GB DDR4 ECC registered DIMMs (RDIMMs). These components are designed for server platforms such as Intel Xeon, AMD Epyc, or AMD Threadripper and are incompatible with standard consumer motherboards.

Market analysis on eBay US indicates that individual 64GB DDR4-2666 sticks sell for between $350 and $425. Based on an average price of $400 per unit, the total value of the 30-stick collection is estimated at $12 000.

The total capacity of the recovered memory modules amounts to 1 920GB. While the user initially estimated the value at $10 000, fluctuations in regional currency, specifically if calculated in Australian dollars, could adjust the total valuation.
