The US Securities and Exchange Commission approved a rule change on October 2, 2026, allowing the listing and trading of six triple-leveraged exchange-traded products. These products are sponsored by Volatility Shares LLC and structured as series of the Volatility Shares Trust.
The approved lineup includes funds tied to Bitcoin and Ether, as well as gold, silver, crude oil, and natural gas. Each product is designed to provide three times the daily performance of its underlying asset by utilizing futures contracts rather than holding the physical assets.
The regulatory process began on August 10, 2026, when the Cboe BZX Exchange submitted the proposal. The SEC issued the approval under Release No. 34-106577. This decision marks the first time the US has authorized triple-leveraged ETPs linked to Bitcoin and Ether.
Despite the regulatory approval, trading has not yet commenced. The products require an effective Form S-1 registration statement under the Securities Act of 1933 before they can be listed. No specific launch date has been announced for these instruments.
