SBI Holdings, Mesh Connect, and Money Forward have announced plans to establish a joint venture in Japan by 2026. The partnership aims to build infrastructure for digital asset connectivity and payments, pending regulatory approval and final agreements.
The equity structure of the new entity will see Mesh Connect hold a 60% stake, while SBI Group and Money Forward will hold 26% and 14% respectively. Money Forward, which is already a shareholder in Mesh, will provide management support for the expansion.
The venture will utilize Mesh’s API-based infrastructure to link cryptocurrency exchanges, wallets, and other services. SBI Group will contribute its financial services network and expertise in regulatory compliance to the collaboration.
Initial operations will focus on connecting digital asset accounts, simplifying transfers, and developing payment solutions using stablecoins and crypto assets. The partners also plan to explore services for tokenized assets for financial institutions.
