The Tadawul All Share Index dropped by 0.3% on September 14, 2026, following a decline of 1.0% to 1.3% the previous day. The selloff was triggered by drone strikes on energy infrastructure in the Riyadh and Medina regions, which forced a precautionary shutdown of the East-West oil pipeline.
The Petroline pipeline typically transports between 4 and 7 million barrels of crude oil per day, accounting for approximately 4% of the global supply. Current inventories at the Yanbu port are sufficient for only 5 to 7 days of exports if the shutdown continues.
Saudi Aramco shares fell by 0.5% on September 14, following a previous decline of 1.1% to 1.6%. Other companies also saw losses: Ma’aden shares dropped by 1%, while SABIC shares fell by 0.5%. Riyadh Cement also reported losses during the trading session.
While Saudi equities declined, Brent crude prices surged to between $100 and $108 per barrel. The market is reacting to the risk of sustained supply disruptions and ongoing regional shipping threats in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
