Saudi Arabia has curtailed oil exports to Europe following the closure of the East-West crude pipeline. The shutdown was triggered by drone attacks on the infrastructure, which serves as a vital link for transporting oil to the Red Sea port of Yanbu.
The disruption has resulted in the suspension of all September-loading cargoes. Consequently, European refiners, including the Polish company Orlen, are currently searching for alternative sources of supply to compensate for the shortfall.
To maintain exports, Saudi Arabia is currently utilizing its stored crude reserves. Industry analysts estimate that these existing inventories are sufficient to sustain export levels for a period of only five to seven days.
Market participants are now tracking the progress of pipeline repairs and the potential reaction from OPEC regarding production levels. Geopolitical instability in the region remains a factor that could influence global crude oil pricing trends through the end of the year.
