Samsung Wallet users in the US and Canada can now use digital keys to lock, unlock, and start specific General Motors vehicles. The feature utilizes ultra-wideband and Bluetooth Low Energy technologies to enable automatic door locking and unlocking as the driver approaches or leaves the car.
Initial support covers select 2026 and 2027 Cadillac electric models, specifically the 2025-2027 Lyriq, 2026-2027 Optic, and 2027 Vistiq. GM plans to expand support to additional models by the end of 2026, with digital keys also arriving for certain GMC and Chevy trucks starting in December.
The digital key functionality is restricted to specific Samsung Galaxy devices equipped with both UWB and BLE hardware. Compatible models include various iterations of the S21 through S26 series, Note 20 Ultra, and multiple generations of the Z Fold line, including the Z Fold 8 and Z TriFold.
Users can manage keys by sharing, suspending, or deleting them if a device is lost or stolen. Owners will receive notifications via the vehicle's mobile app when the digital key feature becomes available for their specific car. GM also intends to bring similar support to Apple and Google wallets.
