Samsung Electronics has successfully completed the validation of its 16GB LPDDR6 memory for the next-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen6 mobile platform. The memory achieves a maximum data transfer rate of 10.7 Gbps.

This validation process follows a long-term collaboration between Samsung and processor manufacturers. Such testing is mandatory to ensure compatibility and operational stability before the components can be integrated into smartphones.

The new LPDDR6 memory offers a 45 percent increase in bandwidth compared to the previous LPDDR5X generation, reaching 125 GB/s. Additionally, the power efficiency of the new chips has been improved by up to 21 percent.

Samsung participated in the development of the LPDDR6 standard through the JEDEC Solid State Technology Association. The company aims to align its production schedules with the commercialization timelines of its clients to support the growth of on-device AI.

According to Omdia, the market share of LPDDR6 in total LPDDR shipments is projected to grow significantly. Forecasts indicate a share of 3 percent in 2027, 9 percent in 2028, 21 percent in 2029, and 39 percent by 2030.
