Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy SmartTag 3, the third generation of its Bluetooth tracker. The device features a rounded square design, which is 35% smaller and 33% lighter than the previous SmartTag 2 model. It lacks a built-in keyhole, requiring users to purchase a separate case for attachment. The tracker is rated IP67 for dust and water resistance.
The device is powered by a replaceable CR2032 coin battery, offering a battery life of up to 550 days in standard mode and 790 days in power-saving mode. Samsung has introduced support for iOS devices, allowing users to share tracking information with others. The tracker utilizes the Samsung Galaxy Find network for location services.
Key features include location alerts for entering or leaving specific areas, motion detection, and location history tracking. When within a 200-foot range, the device uses a combination of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and Bluetooth 6.0 channel sounding technology for precise positioning.
The Galaxy SmartTag 3 comes in black and white. It launches in South Korea on October 7, with a US release scheduled for early November. The tracker is priced at $29.99 for a single unit and $99.99 for a four-pack, matching the pricing of the previous generation.
