Samsung is reportedly planning to introduce DC Dimming technology for its upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra smartphones. This method adjusts OLED brightness by varying the electrical current rather than relying on Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), which is currently used in models like the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The primary goal of this transition is to reduce screen flickering, which can cause eye fatigue and headaches for sensitive users. However, the company faces technical challenges, as adjusting current levels can impact color accuracy, particularly at lower brightness settings. It remains unclear if Samsung will implement a full DC Dimming system or a hybrid approach.

The company is currently collaborating with health and safety organizations to optimize display performance. While the feature is expected for the Pro and Ultra models, there is no confirmation regarding its inclusion in the base Galaxy S27 or Galaxy S27 Plus. The information comes from insider WalleGalaxy, who previously accurately leaked specifications for the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

DC Dimming is already a standard feature in devices from manufacturers such as Xiaomi, OnePlus, Vivo, and Oppo. Huawei first implemented similar technology in its smartphones back in 2019.
